Structure of biomolecules dictates function
Our group makes use of a variety of biophysical and biochemical approaches to elucidate the mechanistic basis of functioning of biomolecules, in isolation or in complex with interacting partners. Insights obtained using atomic resolution structures determined through X-ray crystallography are complemented with in vitro and/or in vivo data to glean functional information on multiple systems. 

 

The two major projects of our lab include:

I) Mechanism of proofreading during translation of the genetic code
II) Structure-function relationship of lipid metabolizing enzymes in eukaryotes
