Submission countdown:

Proposals are invited online from CSIR laboratories for the fourth round of “CSIR-Fundamental & Innovative Research in Science of Tomorrow (CSIR-FIRST)” projects. Basic scientific research is an essential component of a knowledge based society and provides platform for future readiness of a nation. The current program opens the challenge to the CSIR laboratories to come up with cutting edge programs for competitive funding. The research grant will be support promising/performing scientists to take their research to next level. The scheme on CSIR-FIRST was initiated in 2020, so far three rounds of projects have been taken up under the Scheme.

Funding under this scheme will be mainly based on two factors; 1) Uniqueness of the fundamental question(s) being addressed and 2) feasibility of the program based on past track record. In this context, the proposal should stand out in the international level. Scientists are encourage to propose out of box type and high-risk but scientifically very strong proposals. A maximum of 50 Lakhs per annum will be the level of support in this scheme, initially for a period of two years.

CSIR Scientists are requested to submit the project proposal (PDF) in the given Format (Download) after the financial vetting by Finance Division (CoFA/F&AO), recommendation by PME and approval of the Directors of the respective Labs.
